Day 237: Rough Morning, Rough Day

I had the hardest time dragging myself out of bed this morning. Yes, I had the hope that when I got up I would find out that Joe Biden had won the presidency for sure. But, even with that positive thought in mind, I was still sad, angry, and anxious.

The thing is, even if he did win, we all lost. Democrats did not get enough Senate seats, or House seats for that matter, meaning that Biden’s administration will be hamstrung. And there are 69+ million people who will be angry over Trump’s loss, and we all know how they’re going to behave over that. We’ll be lucky if there’s no violence.

And Biden’s presidency will be its own special kind of nightmare, because he’ll have Donald Trump’s mess to clean up. No matter how quickly or how well he does it, he’ll be blamed for the mess and criticized for not cleaning it up fast enough, even as Republicans do everything they can to block his every single move. We’ve seen it happen before. We know exactly how this game goes: Republicans destroy, Democrats fix, Republicans take the credit, Democrats get stuck with the blame.

So, I was in no mood to work. I took the day off, and I watched as the election results trickled (and I do mean trickled) in. We still do not have a definite winner. We might not for days. This is not a good situation.
