Playtime

Dear Marshall,

Here are a couple of things I’ve learned from playing with you.

  • Everything is funnier when it’s on someone’s head. For example, there’s nothing inherently funny about a blanket or a stuffed animal or a pail, but put any one of them on someone’s head, and suddenly it’s funny. Don’t ask me why.
  • Everything is better if there’s an appropriate sound effect to go with it. Lions are interesting because they roar, elephants because they trumpet, frogs because they go “ribbit.” Perhaps food even tastes better when its approach toward the mouth is accompanied by the sound of an airplane coming in for a landing. Sounds are fun!

Thanks for helping me rediscover the fun of play!

Love,

Mom
