Her latest poem is so nice that I&#8217;d like to end on it, but she wants me to write back. So I will, and my poem will be #8 in the chain.<\/li><li>The RI Department of Education is trying to force us to bring our kids to school for four rounds of standardized testing over the course of April and May. I&#8217;m relatively comfortable with the level of exposure to the Coronavirus that this would represent. But, we&#8217;ve been isolating for a whole year, and now we&#8217;re right on the cusp of vaccination. If we were to break our isolation before getting vaccinated, wouldn&#8217;t we be begging to catch the virus, especially now that the more virulent British variant is dominant in the U.S. and there&#8217;s a hot spot of the Brazilian variant nearby on the Cape? Murphy&#8217;s Law. With that thought in mind, my husband talked to the schools yesterday, and they agreed to let the kids postpone testing until May. I&#8217;m relieved.<\/li><li>Speaking of vaccinations, there&#8217;s a vaccine clinic today not far from here. It appears that they did not fill up all of their appointments, so it&#8217;s possible they&#8217;d be willing to vaccinate me even though I&#8217;m not technically eligible yet (1.5 years too young!). We may inquire.<\/li><li>The neighbors still haven&#8217;t sold their house, but it seems they&#8217;re still trying. There&#8217;s a flock of people, presumably potential buyers, at the house today. The weather is gorgeous, and if the neighbors can&#8217;t sell the house on a day like today, I doubt they ever will.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Livia and I have been writing poems back and forth by e-mail.
