My eyes are dry and gummy today. That’s because I wore makeup yesterday. No matter how carefully I remove my eye makeup before going to sleep, some of it stays there and works its way into my eyes overnight. I hadn’t worn makeup in over a year, because I’d had no reason to (don’t worry–I threw all my old makeup away. The stuff I wore yesterday was brand-new, straight out of the package). As with many things that we abandoned during the year-plus of pandemic, I have mixed feelings about its return. On one hand, I had forgotten how nice it is to be complimented on my appearance.
