The dishwasher broke a few days before Christmas. Excepting our brief stay in Vermont, I’ve had to hand-wash dishes every day since. A couple of times, as I was washing dishes, my husband has said to me, “It’s painful to watch you do that.” You might interpret that as sort of sweet, thinking that he doesn’t like to see me do extra work. And he probably does mean that, but I know him well enough to know that he also means that he hates to see me splashing so much water around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since there is no way to wash dishes without making splashes, I refuse to fret over them. I might even, truth be told, enjoy making splashes a little bit. And, strange but true, I haven’t hated hand-washing the dishes nearly as much as I’d thought I would.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If only there weren’t so many. A family of four can produce an awful lot of dirty dishes. Tons and tons of dirty dishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So, our reasons might differ, but my husband and I agree that we will both be happier once the dishwasher is working again!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
