One of the things that amazes me at this time of year is how many different leaf shapes there are. In one area of path, I spotted four shapes that were all different, and yet all oak-like. Here they are.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bluefootedmusings.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Oaky-Dokey.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-8556\" alt=\"Oaky-Dokey\" src=\"http:\/\/bluefootedmusings.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Oaky-Dokey-225x300.jpg\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/bluefootedmusings.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Oaky-Dokey-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/bluefootedmusings.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Oaky-Dokey-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/bluefootedmusings.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Oaky-Dokey.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure what kinds of trees these leaves came from, but I&#8217;m guessing (clockwise from top left) chestnut oak, scarlet oak, white oak, and northern red oak. I could be completely wrong (and I really wouldn&#8217;t be surprised), but I think I am at least right in calling them all oaks.<\/p>\n<p>You know what else amazes me? The sky! Forgive my obsession with the November sky. I just can&#8217;t help it.<\/p>\n<p>I love the sky when it&#8217;s bright blue with wispy cloud bits.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bluefootedmusings.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Sky4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-8557\" alt=\"Sky4\" src=\"http:\/\/bluefootedmusings.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Sky4-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/bluefootedmusings.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Sky4-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/bluefootedmusings.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Sky4.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And I love it when the clouds are thick and stripy, like this.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bluefootedmusings.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Sky5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-8558\" alt=\"Sky5\" src=\"http:\/\/bluefootedmusings.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Sky5-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/bluefootedmusings.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Sky5-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/bluefootedmusings.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Sky5-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/bluefootedmusings.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Sky5.jpg 1400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But one evening my attention was pulled away from the sunset by a little woodpecker who was merrily tap-tap-tapping in a tree just behind me.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bluefootedmusings.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Woodpecker.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-8560\" alt=\"Woodpecker\" src=\"http:\/\/bluefootedmusings.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Woodpecker-300x231.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"231\" srcset=\"http:\/\/bluefootedmusings.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Woodpecker-300x231.jpg 300w, http:\/\/bluefootedmusings.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Woodpecker-1024x789.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/bluefootedmusings.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Woodpecker.jpg 1252w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I wish I could have listened to him longer, but in November the night comes early. Once the sun sets behind that hill, the path home turns dark quickly.
