Day 53: Walking

I am out of shape, and I need to get more fresh air and sunshine. Today I went for a walk on my driveway again and counted my steps. It is roughly 125 steps from the garage door to the edge of the road, so each round trip is 250 steps. I walked the driveway four times today. I also went out on the road for a bit. Total walking count: about 2,000 steps.

I don’t normally measure my walks in steps, nor do I intend to keep it up. I’m just trying to push myself to get some minimum amount of outdoor exercise each day. I haven’t decided yet what the minimum should be. A thousand steps is hardly anything. Two thousand is a nice pick-me-up, possibly acceptable as an absolute minimum.

I’m also trying to decide where to walk. Every place has its pros and cons. Some places would require brush cutting and/or tick clothes. Some require a mask, which I would have to buy or make (I have an N95, but not an everyday-wear mask). Some places might have people in larger quantities than I care to encounter right now. I guess I’ll just have to scope them all out and see how it goes. In the meantime, my driveway is safe, mostly tick-free, and doesn’t require a mask, and short trips out on the road aren’t too bad, though there’s far more traffic than seems appropriate for a pandemic.

Wherever I go, I’m sure I will find things to look at. Today, along the side of the road, I discovered these beauties.

This appears to be some type of spurge (edit: most likely cypress spurge). I am unfamiliar with this plant, so I will have to do more research.
This has the look of a fruit tree, but I’m not sure which kind. Maybe crab apple.
