Day 222: Leaves

Colorful Array of Maple Leaves

We are so fortunate to be having a good foliage season this year. The caterpillars didn’t defoliate the trees during the spring, so we’ve got big, beautiful leaves like these falling in our yard. This is just a sampling of the color variations I noticed as I was walking today. The bright yellows are becoming rarer, giving way to the oranges and reds, but all the colors are beautiful. Marshall believes that catching a falling leaf gives you good luck. If he’s right (and I think he is), then he’s a very lucky boy. I love watching the leaves fall, whether in spirals, zigzags, or lazy meanders.
