Sorry to say, a circular red patch with a dark-red inner ring developed around the tick bite. It was certainly suspicious, so the doctor prescribed a full course of antibiotics rather than a prophylactic dose. Two weeks of antibiotics will be tough, and the bite is so itchy that it’s been keeping me up at night. I’ve also had a vicious headache for days, and it’s possible the tick’s to blame for that, too.
I brought this upon myself, you know. I literally walked across grass in the Lyme area of CT last week and did not do a tick-check afterward. I mean, come on! How hard is it to remember to be a little extra careful when visiting the OG Tickville? Not that I know for sure that the tick came from there. It could have been home-grown. The point is that I didn’t do a tick-check or shower when I got home or change my clothes, and I should have done all of those things. Lyme isn’t the only (or even the worst) thing that ticks can carry. I need to be more careful.
