Math Mommy

One morning Livia told me that 2+2=4. “That’s true,” I said. “Do you know what 4 minus 2 is?” She didn’t know the answer, so I demonstrated it for her by holding up four fingers and then folding two of them down. She understood. I told her that she was good at math and that maybe someday she could have a math job, like an astronaut or an engineer. She got very excited and said, “I could be a Math Grown-Up! A Math Mommy!”
