I found a handwritten note in my office today. I must have written in back in 2009 when I was pregnant with Marshall. I probably intended to include it in my 33 Weeks post, but I didn’t. So here it is now.
33 Weeks
Baby kicks while I’m talking to other people. They don’t know, so it’s like I’m living in my own little universe. Baby is already demanding his mother’s attention.
I found a note from 1992 to you in my bible the other night. (Yes, that does mean there’s a possibility I haven’t opened it since then.)
What made you look in the Bible the other night? And what do you suppose made you put a note to me into your Bible all those years ago?
BTW, my favorite Bible passage is still I Kings 13:27: “And he spake to his sons, saying, Saddle me the ass. And they saddled him.”
I picked up an advanced reader copy of a book last month, and Rudi suggested its paper was like onion skin. I said that it was far thicker and pulled out my bible to show him a closer approximation of it.
Apparently I had a copy of the school literary magazine for you and was writing the note while I was waiting for Sunday school to begin (I was teaching at that point). Since I assume I gave you the magazine, I just put the note back in the bible to make me smile again in 25 more years.
A fine passage indeed!
Ah. It all makes sense. You are correct in assuming you gave me the magazine. I read some of it last night, and I gotta say that teenagers are depressing. But I miss our teenage selves, and I feel like it’s a good time to try to reconnect with them a little bit.
